Hands On Science

Hands on Science is about encouraging young people across Wales to study Science, Maths and Health related subjects beyond GCSE. Hands on Science is a partnership of higher education institutions, further education colleges and other education providers throughout Wales.

The project, an off-shoot from the First campus project, was established to raise enthusiasm for Science, Maths and Health related subjects and in doing so, encourage more pupils to take these subjects beyond GCSEs. Hands on Science hopes to raise academic achievement in Science related subjects and to make a major contribution to meeting the Welsh Assembly Government targets for Reaching Higher Reaching Wider. Hands on Science will implement a variety of exciting and challenging activities and events for key stage 4 and 5 pupils across Wales.  It seeks to enrich the curriculum, counter under-achievement and raise aspirations.
