Brief summary of Education: I took A-levels in Physics, Maths and Biology and went out to do a degree in Physics at the University of Salford.  After that I did a PhD in Space Robotics at Aberystwyth University, and was lucky enough to work with the Beagle 2 team.

My name is Lucy and I am studying for a PhD in Chemistry at the University of Edinburgh. A PhD is what you can do after you have finished your first university degree and involves doing lots of new research that no-one else has done before. It is hard work but can be lots of fun too.

On the road with Hands on Science

This weekend I have been working in Wrexham and Bagor. I am usually based in Pontypridd and visit the other Universities and schools in my area, but I also work in partnership with the other universities in Wales, such as NEWI (Wrexham) and Bangor University.

I am very inquisitive by nature, and always found science helped to explain the what, why, where, when and how of all kinds of things. So I studied science through school, and thought I’d choose science A-levels because I knew that science would give me lots of opportunities in the future.
