LARCI/Manchester Knowledge Capital: Science Cities

LARCI are organising a workshop to explore the local and regional dimensions of Science Cities. The event will showcase examples of excellent research which have been funded by the research councils. Speakers will cover a range of research which has played a major part in the development of the UK’s Science Cities, such as: The Policy Context for Science Cities, Success in Innovation, City Regions as Intelligent Territories and Science Cities: Refreshing the Concept for 21st Century Places. Local authority representatives will be promoting and encouraging debate around science research of relevance in Manchester with a series of presentations and discussions. This LARCI seminar also offers a unique insight into Manchester’s status as a Science City giving attendees the opportunity for information-gathering and networking. The event is aimed at policy, planning and research staff in local and regional government and public agencies, as well as practitioners in the private and voluntary sectors. There are 5 other major Science Cities in the UK, and it is envisaged that there will be a LARCI event at each of these in the near future. Therefore anybody who is interested in organising such an event is more than welcome to attend.
