| Swansea Neath Port Talbot Summer School |
Tackling DNA!Girls attending the 4 week residential summer school at Swansea University and Swansea Institute of Higher Education had the chance to extraxt DNA from stawberries under the expert supervision of Dr Sarah Forbes-Robertson.
A mixed group of 9 pupils from local colleges are enroled on the biology course which is funded by the Hands on Science Project. Post Doc Dr. Alyson Bexfield has been teaching the pupils as well as organising visits to the hospital and tours of the biology laboratories as part of their university experience. Some of the students are keen to take medicine after completing their A'levels and were very enthusiastic about their experiences at the summer school. Other pupils in the class also carried out the DNA practical and were given a presentation by Dr Forbes Robertson on DNA and Genes. The Summer School runs for the further 2 weeks. |
