'Uni Inspiration Day'

First Campus at Cardiff University held a 'Uni Inspiration Day' recently in partnership with the University of Wales Institute Cardiff, the University of Glamorgan and the University of Wales Newport.  The event was part of Cardiff University's Step Up Scheme.

On a sunny Saturday in March, more than 100 Year 11 pupils from schools in the area visited Cardiff University for the action packed event.

Cardiff University's Widening Access Office coordinated a busy programme of talks and workshops, including careers talks on 'Healthcare Professions', 'Law', 'Science, Engineering and Maths' and workshops on student finance, preparing for university, sport and societies.

Visitors were also able to attend a Subject Fair in which students from all the partner universities were representing their chosen degree subject, and pupils were encouraged to speak to students to find out about student life.

Annie Mitchell, Head of Widening Access said 'Uni Inspiration Day is a hugely popular event. On this occasion it was bigger and better than ever, raising awareness of HE courses and student life, and showcasing many curriculum areas available to prospective university students. The feedback we receive from delegates and head teachers on events such as this is extremely positive.'
